CODE ENFORCEMENT

 

The Code Enforcement Inspector is responsible for the enforcement of City Ordinances passed by the City Council pertaining to the abatement of nuisances, which are a danger to the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens.

Report a Nuisance:

The City of Prattville offers an online Citizen Portal that enables citizens to submit work orders. This user-friendly system offers a streamlined approach for instant communication and requests directly from citizens to our city departments. Registration/sign-up is required to help track submissions.

Animal Control

The City of Prattville strictly enforces its leash law for dogs, which states that dogs must be confined or controlled upon a leash.  Dogs are not allowed to run free.  The Dog Warden is based at the Autauga County Humane Shelter.  This person is responsible for enforcing the leash law ordinance within the city limits of Prattville.  There is no ordinance for cats.

If a dog is picked up by the Dog Warden, the animal is taken to the Autauga County Humane Shelter located on Reuben Road.  For more information, contact the shelter at 334-358-2882.

Animal Nuisance

No owner, keeper, or person acting for the owner shall fail to exercise proper care and control of his animals to prevent said animals from becoming a public nuisance.

Electric Fence

It shall be unlawful for any person to keep or maintain on any premises in any area zoned for residential purposes an electrical or charged fence wherein the exterior of such fence is not protected from contact with people, children and animals.
